About Tastemaker

Our Process

Our reviews are conducted with the industry’s most critical and objective criteria ever. Our ever-expanding list of performance measurements includes well over three-hundred separate points on which products are graded, encompassing every step of their lives from their raw materials until even after they are disposed of. We put particular emphasis on features, quality, longevity and sustainability within our reviews, in addition to complex dynamic scoring reflecting the performance of their peers, remaining ever-changing even when new competitors enter the market.

When a product is reviewed in a particular way by Tastemaker, the score is based cumulatively on a group of individual in-house and contracted experts, each of whom has had extensive hands-on experience with all of that specific product’s peers, ensuring that all judgements and statements are as informed as possible.

We actively apply the same rigorous criteria to every product we receive for testing, applying extremely specific trials in a real world environment so any product purchased with our advice can be trusted to perform the same way in your hands. We do not and will not ever publicize information we are not able to personally verify, regardless of that impact to our working relationship with the producer. We believe at Tastemaker that our reputation for honesty is key to maintaining our trust with you, our audience.

About Us

We are privately funded, we do not accept sponsorships that we feel will bias our data, instead focusing on maintaining relationships with brands based around specific products we can firmly and objectively endorse as great and representative of our values. All of our endorsements are sought out by us after we find a product performs well, and remain contingent on product performance, allowing us to ensure that any products we put our name behind truly espouse our values.

Accountability is a cornerstone of our philosophy, meaning we will not hesitate to adjust our positions as we cull data or sources that we are not able to put our full faith in, even if it requires a complete readjustment of our position on a product or our relationship with a company. Our reviews are generated by group testing, where our methodology allows us to vet out bias within individuals and develop data that can be considered objective, but we also take the step further to attach group information to our reviews, allowing for even more analysis across multiple data sets to see if any characteristics of either demographic, individual bias or even unconscious bias may be affecting our data and require public readjustment. We recognize in our pursuit of true transparency that we may make errors, either as a company or as individuals. However, we can and will publicly admit fallacies when we encounter them.

Our goal is to also elevate and distinguish those products that align with our interests in environmental consideration. Our testing involves comprehensive looks into how products are produced, marketed, packaged and perform long-term to determine whether they can be actually considered quality investments or eco-friendly. While we recognize environmental impact is not forefront on every consumer’s mind, we believe the ideation of greener lifestyles can begin with a proper education on the environmental cost of day-to-day purchases.
